The Government of Belize’s Procurement Information Portal, under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, is designed to provide a single point of access to the information on procurement operations across various government entities in Belize, Ministries, Departments or other public bodies.
Public access to procurement information is deemed critical to improving transparency and contributing to more open competition and equal business opportunities. Access to the Portal allows citizens, groups, suppliers and contractors to view and download basic procurement-related information, such as relevant legislation, procedures guidelines (SOPs or Handbooks), as well as Standard Bidding Documents (SBDs) for the procurement of Goods, Works or Consulting Services.
The Portal is linked to the CARICOM wide Public Procurement Notice Board to facilitate the publication by Government bodies of procurement plans and notices, giving suppliers access to contract opportunities locally and in the rest of the Caribbean. Users are also able to obtain information on contract award results

What is Public Procurement?

Public Procurement or Government Procurement is the process by which government departments, bodies or agencies purchase goods, works and services from the private sector. Public procurement takes place at international, regional and national or local level, and the process is subject to specific rules and principles detailed in Laws and procedure manuals or guidelines covering how the relevant purchasing decisions are made. Public procurement includes also the disposal by the Government of public assets of any kind, by sale or otherwise.
Several documents have been developed and approved that support the legal framework for Public Procurement in Belize. These are intended to be in full compliance with all laws and regulations governing Public Procurement. Procurement Entities and Suppliers are expected to familiarize and follow these procedural documents when engaging in Procurement activities. These include:

About Us

Public procurement is a function of the Ministry of Finance and is carried out by the Procurement Unit.

The Procurement Unit was established on August 26, 2017. It is staffed by one (1) Procurement Director with support from two (2) other technical officers of the Ministry. The Director functions as the focal point on all matters dealing with Government Procurement for the Government of Belize.

The principal functions of the Unit are to:
